Protecta FR Collar Protecta FR Collar is an intumescent firestop collar designed to maintain the fire and acoustic performance of fire-rated walls and floors. Tested and assessed to AS1530.4:2014 and AS4072.1:2005, it achieves an acoustic rating of STC 58 and is compatible with a wide range of plastic, composite, insulated metal pipe, and electrical cable bundle penetrations. During a fire, the intumescent core expands to seal openings left by melting services, helping prevent the spread of fire and smoke. The split steel collar features a simple locking mechanism for fast, secure installation to floor slabs and both sides of walls. It is also approved for oversized openings and angled penetrations up to 50mm, with annular gaps sealed using Protecta FR Acrylic to maintain fire and acoustic integrity.
Protecta FR Collar Protecta FR Collars are designed for use in fire-rated building elements where plastic pipes, composite pipes, insulated metal pipes, or electrical cable bundles penetrate the substrate. Suitable for plasterboard, masonry, concrete, and CLT constructions, with service penetrations up to 400mm diameter. For interior use only, the system may be installed in oversized openings and angled penetrations up to 50mm pipe diameter when used with Protecta FR Acrylic. Protecta FR Collars should be used for interior applications in fire-rated walls and floors where protection against the spread of fire through service penetrations is required.
The product must be installed in accordance with the relevant tested and assessed systems to AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 4072.1:2005. Suitable substrates include concrete, masonry, timber, gypsum construction materials. Protecta FR Collars are suitable for service penetrations up to Ø400mm and can used in conjunction with Protecta FR Board and FR Acrylic systems.
Refer to firestopcentre.co.nz for FC tech drawings, product information, and test reports relating to specific application, design, and installation instructions. Products must not be modified in any way that may compromise performance. All fire-rated service penetrations must be labelled in accordance with AS 4072.1:2005.
Protecta products should be stored in a clean, dry location and kept in their original packaging prior to installation.
Protecta passive fire protection products have no specific maintenance requirements. Damaged products should be repaired or replaced to maintain the required FRR of the fire-rated system.
