Product Description
K2
Hygienic doors are a glass reinforced polyester (GRP) moulded door that
is used in areas where the highest levels of hygiene are required. K2
Hygienic doors are typically used in laboratories, research facilities,
hospitals, dairy factories & food processing plants.
Features:

Scope of use
K2 GRP Fire Doors are suitable for internal applications where certified fire protection and high levels of hygiene are required.
They are designed for use in commercial, industrial and healthcare environments including hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, dairy factories, food processing plants and cleanrooms.
Door sets are available in single and double-leaf configurations with fire resistance ratings of up to -/120/90SM, subject to the approved door construction and installation requirements.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(b)
B2.3.1(b):
The K2 GRP Fire door range come with a 5 year conditional warranty and have been proven
when correctly maintained and installed in interior applications as per k2 doors installation
guidelines to have a durability of 15 years + based on previous job history. - Clause C3 Fire affecting areas beyond the fire source: Performance C3.6, C3.7, C3.9
The K2 GRP Fire door range can be used on an external wall where relevant considerations
are specified in the project requirements. - Clause C4 Movement to place of safety: Performance C4.3, C4.4, C4.5
C4.3, C4.4, C4.5:
The K2 GRP Fire door range can be used within an escape route where relevant
considerations are specified in the project requirements. - Clause C5 Access and safety for fire fighting operations: Performance C5.6, C5.8
C5.6 & C5.8:
In accordance with NZBC C/AS2 clause 4.16 and Appendix C clause C6.1.1, K2 GRP Fire
Doors comply with NZS 4520 and are tested to AS 1530.4.
K2 GRP Fire Doors are supplied with Product Labels/ID tags which comply with NZS 4520,
on which the Fire Resistance Rating (FRR) and door set numbers are detailed. In accordance
with NZS 4520, K2 Doors maintains a register of door sets, and issues an installer’s
declaration with each door set. Where required K2 doors are supplied with and to be fitted
with smoke seals in accordance with NZBC C/AS2 clause 4.16.2(b) and Appendix C C6.1.2.
Where required, glazing to K2 GRP Fire Doors is in accordance with NZBC C/AS2
paragraph 4.2, uninsulated and insulated vision panels comply with NZS 4520.
Where required K2 GRP Fire Doors are to be self-latching, in accordance with NZS 4520.
The selection of hardware to meet these requirements is to be approved by K2Doors and
signed off on build sheets.
K2 GRP Fire Doors are to be self-closing in accordance with NZBC C/AS2 Appendix C,
clause C6.1.4 and C6.1.5 and NZS 4520. If door location on an escape route, a self-closing
device to be installed and adjusted to meet maximum frictional forces requirements of NZBC
C/AS2 Appendix C, clause 6.1.3. Doors subdividing escape routes, to be designed in
accordance with NZBC C/AS2 clause 3.15, including door closers and latching, locking
devices, direction of opening, degree of opening and vision panels. - Clause D1 Access routes: Performance D1.3.1(b), D1.3.1(c), D1.3.4(f)

Design requirements
K2 GRP hygienic doors are a glass reinforced polyester (GRP) moulded door that are
used in commercial areas where the highest level of hygiene is required. They are
typically used in laboratories, research facilities, hospitals, pharmaceutical, dairy
factories & food processing plants where a Ae rating of up to 90 mins is required
Installation requirements
K2 FIRE DOOR INSTALLATION
Door Location
Ensure that door to be installed is the correct door for the correct location in the building.
Refer to K2 Doors door detail sheet and construction floor plans.
Door Installation Drawings
Refer to the door installation drawings: https://k2doors.co.nz/doors/k2-fire-doors/
Refer to the installation drawings for trim sizes specific wall types and fixings and
requirements to suit each wall type.
Once installed as per installation drawings check that opening and closing forces are in
accordance with NZS 4520, fill out fire door installation declaration and return to K2 Doors
for issuing of fire door tags.
Maintenance requirements
Weekly
Visual inspection to check for any damage to door set or hardware, ensure the door closes correctly
against the seal and the latch operates. Check there is nothing that will prevent the doors from
functioning correctly.
Door Seals – 6 months
Visually check the door seals for any rips or tears. If there are any please contact K2 Doors to arrange
replacement seals. Seals may be cleaned with a mild detergent mix. Once the seal has been cleaned
rinse and dry the surface.
Door Handles – 12 months
Check that the handle is operating freely and not getting sticky, also that the striking latch is operating
correctly. If it is sticky, a squirt of WD40, CRC or silicon spray may be used to free it up. Check all
screws are tightened.
Warrantees
K2 Doors provides a 1-year manufacturer's warranty on K2 GRP Fire Door systems against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service. The warranty applies to door leaves, frames and factory-fitted components supplied by K2 Doors and is subject to the doors being installed, operated and maintained in accordance with K2 Doors' installation and maintenance requirements.
This warranty does not cover damage resulting from misuse, abuse, impact, unauthorized modifications, incorrect installation, normal wear and tear, or exposure to conditions outside the intended scope of use. Any third-party hardware or accessories are covered by the respective manufacturer's warranty where applicable.
