Product Description
FOAMGLAS® READY BOARD is Owens Corning's roof insulation board for warm roofs with torch-on membranes: 1200 x 600 mm boards of FOAMGLAS slabs bonded with bitumen, with a PE-foil top face that takes the torched membrane directly and a white glass fleece underside. Two grades: T4+ (110 kg/m3) for heavy-load roofs, vehicle decks and plant areas; T3+ (95 kg/m3) for lower conductivity under lighter loads. Accumen Shapes Ltd, New Zealand distributor for FOAMGLAS since 2019, supplies READY BOARD and Owens Corning's roofing accessories on indent.
Why specify READY BOARD?
- Thermal resistance declared board by board: T4+ RD 0.95 (40 mm) to 4.85 (200 mm) m2K/W from lambda-D 0.041 W/mK; T3+ RD 1.35 (50 mm) to 5.55 (200 mm) from lambda-D 0.036 W/mK (EN 13167, DoPs 120210015B and 120210065B, declared; not AS/NZS 4859.1).
- Takes the load: compressive strength 600 kPa or more (T4+) and 500 kPa or more (T3+), creep CC(1.5/1/50) 225 kPa (EN 826, EN 1606, declared) - the substrate for podium and trafficked roofs.
- Built-in vapour control: closed glass cells, vapour resistance infinite, zero capillarity (declared).
- Dimensionally stable and inert: does not shrink, swell, rot or feed vermin; conductivity does not change with time (DoP).
- Third-party certified: CE marking to EN 13167, Keymark, FM approval (Owens Corning datasheets); EPDs to EN 15804 for both grades (IBU, 2026).
- Fire, stated straight: the cellular glass core is Euroclass A1, but the board as supplied - bitumen bonded, PE-faced - is Euroclass E (EN 13501-1, declared). No NZ Group Number is claimed.
- Formats: 1200 x 600 mm; T4+ 40-200 mm, T3+ 50-200 mm; tapered and other sizes on request.

Scope of use
READY BOARD is thermal insulation for warm-roof construction with torch-applied bituminous waterproofing membranes: flat and pitched roofs on concrete, timber and metal decks; heavy-load roofs including vehicle access and equipment plant (T4+); podium decks; and, by extension of the same build-up, terraces and green roofs to the membrane manufacturer's design. Grade by duty: T4+ (110 kg/m3, 600 kPa or more) where loads are concentrated or trafficked; T3+ (95 kg/m3, 500 kPa or more, lambda-D 0.036 W/mK) for better thermal value under lighter loads. Thickness to the required R-value: T4+ 40-200 mm, T3+ 50-200 mm; tapered schemes and other sizes on request. Boards are fully bonded in hot bitumen or a FOAMGLAS cold adhesive to Owens Corning's roof-system details, joints sealed, and the membrane torched to the PE face.
Limitations: not a structural element and not a waterproofing layer - the membrane system and its fire and weathertightness performance are specified separately (E2 is not claimed). The board as supplied is Euroclass E; no NZ Group Number is claimed. Protect from impact and point loads before the membrane and any protection layer are in place; cellular glass is brittle. Install only to Owens Corning's roof-system recommendations and the membrane manufacturer's instructions; handle per the Owens Corning safe-use sheet OCPC00009.

Supporting evidence
The product has and can make available the following additional evidence to support the above statements:
Use in Service History
Cellular glass has been made since 1937, when Pittsburgh Corning built its first plant in Pittsburgh, USA; Owens Corning now makes FOAMGLAS in the USA, Belgium, the Czech Republic and China. FOAMGLAS boards and slabs have insulated flat roofs across Europe for decades - compact warm roofs, podiums, car-park decks and plant roofs - and READY BOARD is the factory-faced version for torch-on membranes. New Zealand stock comes from Owens Corning's European plants (Tessenderlo, Belgium and Klasterec, Czech Republic, the sites covered by the 2026 EPDs), CE-marked to EN 13167 with Declarations of Performance, Keymark certification and third-party surveillance. Accumen Shapes has been the New Zealand distributor for FOAMGLAS since 2019 and supplies READY BOARD on indent; every carton carries the Owens Corning label and production lot.
Product Criteria
Design requirements
Choose the grade by load: T4+ (600 kPa or more) for vehicle decks, plant areas, podiums and any roof with concentrated or trafficked loads; T3+ (500 kPa or more, lambda-D 0.036 W/mK) where thermal value matters more than load. Select thickness from the declared RD table (T4+ 0.95-4.85 m2K/W, T3+ 1.35-5.55) to meet the required construction R-value, calculated by the designer for the whole build-up; tapered schemes for falls on request. The board is fully bonded - hot bitumen or FOAMGLAS cold adhesive to the deck or vapour-control layer, joints sealed, membrane torched directly to the PE face - to Owens Corning's roof-system details, and the membrane is specified separately for E2 and fire. Design the build-up for the loads above the insulation: bearing design for point loads from plant and wheel loads is the engineer's. Exclusions: not structural; not a waterproofing layer; not for exposed or unbonded use. Accumen Technical Services: info@accumen.co.nz.
Installation requirements
Install to Owens Corning's current roof-system recommendations and the membrane manufacturer's instructions. The deck must be clean, dry, sound and to falls; apply the specified primer and, where required, the vapour-control layer. Fully bond each board with hot bitumen or the specified FOAMGLAS cold adhesive, pressing it down so the bed is continuous, boards tightly butted with staggered joints; multi-layer work has joints staggered between layers. Seal joints and the top surface as the system requires, then torch the bituminous membrane directly to the PE-faced top. Do not leave boards unprotected: keep traffic off until the membrane and any protection layer are in place, and spread plant loads with boards. Cut with a saw; cellular glass is brittle - handle with care and do not drop. Cutting releases glass dust: gloves, eye protection and dust control per Owens Corning safe-use sheet OCPC00009. Store flat in cartons on pallets, dry and protected from weather.
Maintenance requirements
READY BOARD is inert cellular glass and needs no maintenance once covered by the membrane. Durability relies on the roof system above it: inspect the membrane, flashings, upstands, outlets and any protection or ballast layer annually and after any roof-top works, and repair membrane damage promptly so that water and mechanical damage are kept out of the insulation layer. Where the membrane is opened for repair, replace any board that is cracked, crushed or saturated through damage before re-covering. Do not add plant or traffic the roof was not designed for. The contribution of the product to B2.3.1 assumes these conditions are maintained; specified durability for the element remains a project-specific assessment by the design professional.
Warrantees
FOAMGLAS READY BOARD is manufactured by Owens Corning (Pittsburgh Corning Europe NV, Tessenderlo, Belgium) and supplied in New Zealand by Accumen Shapes Ltd as its distributor. The product is covered by Owens Corning's product warranty (Owens Corning provides written warranties for many FOAMGLAS products; project warranty requests go through Accumen). Guarantees under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 apply where applicable; nothing here limits rights under that Act or the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017. Conditions: store, handle and install to the Owens Corning datasheets and roof-system recommendations, fully bonded and protected by the specified membrane, within the published loads. Exclusions: installation workmanship; damage after delivery; use outside the published scope; the membrane, adhesives, primers and protection layers, which are specified and warranted separately. Terms: info@accumen.co.nz.
Environmental
READY BOARD is cellular glass - inorganic, made mainly from recycled glass with natural raw materials (sand, dolomite, lime), with no ozone-depleting propellants, flame-retardant additives, binders or VOCs (Owens Corning datasheet, declared) - faced with bitumen and a PE foil on top and a glass fleece underneath. The core cannot rot and is pest-proof. It is an article, not classified hazardous (Owens Corning SUIS OCPC00009); control glass dust when cutting. Environmental Product Declarations to EN 15804+A2 are published for both grades: EPD-PCE-20260420-IBA1-EN (READY T4+) and EPD-PCE-20260419-IBA1-EN (READY T3+), IBU, issued 18 Aug 2026, valid to 17 Aug 2031, covering the Tessenderlo and Klasterec plants that supply New Zealand. In service the board reduces roof heat loss for the life of the roof. Off-cuts: dispose of as construction waste to approved landfill.
