The TIA100D2 Rainwater Outlet with a Dome Grate is suited to torch-on and TPO waterproof membrane roof systems.
The body is made from cast iron. The dome and membrane ring assembly are made from Aluminium. The membrane ring fastens to the drain body independently of the grate to allow access to the sump without breaking the membrane seal.
The Truflo body, dome, membrane ring and grate can be supplied in bronze.
The intergral puddle flange has 4 x weep holes.
For built up roofs a 100mm stainless steel gravel guard is available.
The RWO range is available with 80, 100, and150mm outlets.
The Water Flow Rate data available is on the Metabronze website.
Specification codes:
A tailpiece connector and coupling connector can be used with the drain. See Data sheet.
The SPS TIA100D2 rainwater outlet is designed for draining rainwater from torch-on and TPO membrane roof systems, flat and low-slope roofs, terraces, balconies, planter boxes, car parks, and plant rooms.
It efficiently handles water flow to prevent ponding and structural damage.
Construction materials include cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze, ensuring durability.
Restrictions include use only with compatible waterproof membranes and adherence to proper sizing and installation guidelines.
It is unsuitable for unlined roofs or surfaces without membranes and must be installed by qualified professionals to ensure compliance and prevent leaks or overflow.
SPS is not responsible for the installation, product choice, positioning, or number of TIA100D2 rainwater outlets installed.
The SPS TIA100D2 rainwater outlet meets NZBC Clause E1 (Surface Water) performance requirements by effectively managing rainwater from roof catchments, preventing water ingress into buildings and damage to property.
Compliance is supported by adherence to Acceptable Solution E1/AS1, which covers design limits like catchment size and flood risk. The product ensures watertight integration with roof membranes, preventing leakage and root penetration per E1/AS1 guidelines.
It allows for maintenance access and sediment settlement in drainage paths.
Verification is through E1/VM1, using methods for surface water runoff estimation and flow capacity testing.
SPS is not responsible for the installation, product choice, positioning, or number of TIA100D2 rainwater outlets installed. These decisions and correct installation remain the responsibility of the specifying professional or installer, who must ensure compliance with building codes and manufacturer guidelines for proper function and safety.
The SPS TIA100D2 rainwater outlet meets NZBC Clause G13 (Foul Water) performance requirements by ensuring the safe conveyance of foul water from buildings to appropriate drainage systems, preventing blockages, leaks, and the ingress of foul air and gases.
Its robust construction protects against root penetration and groundwater entry, allowing reasonable maintenance access. It complies with AS/NZS 3500.2 plumbing and drainage standards and aligns with Acceptable Solution G13/AS2 and Verification Method G13/VM4 for foul water disposal.
The drainage system supports safe discharge, ventilation, and durability against loads and ground movement, safeguarding health and amenity as required by G13.
The SPS TIA100D2 Rainwater Outlet complies with the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) Clauses E1 (Surface Water) and G13 (Foul Water).
It is designed and manufactured to meet E1’s performance requirements by efficiently collecting and discharging rainwater from roofs and surfaces, preventing water accumulation and damage. The outlet is made from durable materials like cast iron, bronze, and stainless steel, ensuring watertightness, corrosion resistance, and long service life, supporting compliance with E1/AS1 and E2/AS1 Acceptable Solutions.
Under G13, its robust construction and correct installation ensure protection against contamination, maintain venting, and allow maintenance access, all critical to foul water management. Compliance depends on correct selection, sizing, and installation per NZBC standards and AS/NZS 3500 guidelines.
SPS rainwater outlets have been independently tested and WaterMark certified for superior water flow and durability, supporting their NZBC compliance.
The SPS TIA100D2 Rainwater outlet meets NZBC performance requirements through adherence to relevant standards, acceptable solutions, and verification methods as follows:
It complies with NZBC Clause E1 (Surface Water) and Clause E2 (External Moisture) by effectively managing rainwater runoff, preventing water ingress and damage to building structures. The outlet integrates with roofs and membranes (EPDM, TPO, Butynol) ensuring watertight seals, consistent with Acceptable Solutions E1/AS1 and E2/AS1.
The product is manufactured using robust materials—cast iron body and aluminum or bronze components—providing durability, corrosion resistance, and structural integrity.
The rainwater outlet is independently flow rate tested using AHSCA recognized testing protocols, ensuring it can handle required rainwater volumes without overflow or blockage.
WaterMark certification (WMTS 040:2022) validates compliance for sanitary drainage fittings.
The SPS TIA100D2 rainwater outlet is designed for use with torch-on and TPO waterproof membrane roof systems, suitable for commercial and residential buildings with membrane roofs, roofs slabs, balconies, planter boxes, car parks, and plant rooms.
It features a durable cast iron body with an aluminium dome grate and membrane clamp ring, which allows membrane attachment without breaking the seal.
The outlet has a 100mm pipe outlet size, with optional bronze components and a stainless-steel gravel guard for built-up roofs. Its dome grate appearance suits aesthetic and functional demands by preventing debris entry while allowing high water flow rates up to 8 L/s.
The product is restricted to installation with compatible waterproof membranes and must be sized according to expected water load and site conditions for optimal performance.
The SPS TIA100D2 requires a clean, level, and structurally sound substrate compatible with torch-on or TPO membranes.
To install, cut the substrate to the outlet size if needed.
Insert the outlet into a 100mm PVC pipe using solvent weld, a coupling, or provided O-rings, depending on the model and roof surface material.
If necessary, secure the cast-iron body with fastening anchors without disturbing the membrane.
Depending on the membrane material used, attach the membrane to the drain body using a suitable adhesive or by heat welding.
Attach the membrane clamp ring separately to prevent damage to the seal.
Install the dome grate and, if desired, a gravel guard. Installation is suitable for temperatures ranging from 5-35°c.
Do not install in wet or windy weather.
Test the flow and seal airtightness before completing the project.
Installers must be skilled and familiar with NZBC and AS/NZS 3500. Refer to the SPS installation guide on the manufacturer’s website.
To comply with NZBC Clause B2 Durability, the SPS TIA100D2 rainwater outlet requires regular maintenance including biannual inspections and cleaning to remove debris from dome grates, strainers, and drainage paths to prevent blockages and water pooling.
The corrosion-resistant materials (cast iron, aluminum, bronze, stainless steel) ensure long-term robustness if maintained properly.
At end of life, components can be safely disassembled; metals like cast iron, bronze, aluminum, and stainless steel are recyclable and reusable in manufacturing, minimising environmental impact.
Disposal should follow local regulations for metal recycling and construction waste.
Reuse is possible for undamaged parts if refurbishment is feasible.
