Bikesafe bikeway barriers are designed to reduce the risk of falls from cycle paths, shared paths, footbridges, bridges and culverts. Top rail heights are set to suit NZTA Bridge Manual clause B2.5 cyclist barrier requirements.
Manufactured from hot-dip galvanised steel (AS/NZS 4680 and AS 4792), with an optional powder coat finish, Bikesafe is a pre-engineered, modular system. Standard configurations are designed and tested to the barrier loads in AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Table 3.3.

Intended Use: Bikeway barrier system to reduce the risk of falls for cyclists and pedestrians on cycle paths, shared paths, footbridges and culverts. Partial (rail) and full (infill) options, with curved sections to follow cycle paths.
Standards & Compliance: Designed to contribute to compliance with NZBC Clauses B1 Structure (B1/VM1) and B2 Durability. Top rail heights set to suit NZTA Bridge Manual clause B2.5. Hot-dip galvanised to AS/NZS 4680 and AS 4792.
Restrictions on Use: Not a vehicle barrier. Use only where there is no motorised traffic, or outside a path separated from traffic by a semi-rigid or rigid barrier. Not designed for Bridge Manual crowd, panic or B6 loads (use Moddex Bridgerail). Install to a substrate designed by others, by an accredited Moddex installer or installer approved by Moddex, to the Moddex PS1.

Bikesafe is designed to contribute to compliance with NZBC Clauses B1 Structure and B2 Durability. The design is prepared in accordance with Verification Method B1/VM1, as stated in the Moddex Bikesafe PS1. Top rail heights are set to suit NZTA Bridge Manual clause B2.5 cyclist barrier requirements.
Moddex provides a Bikesafe PS1 (Design) to support building consent applications. A PS3 (Construction) is available where Moddex or a Moddex accredited installer completes the installation. Request documentation by e-mailing - info@moddex.co.nz.
