Since 2012, the NZ Building Code has allowed the use of photoluminescent (PL) exit signs and path markings in place of electrical exit signs and emergency lighting systems. Ecoglo exit signs and escape route products are not just a more economical and sustainable option but meet relevant building codes.

Exit Signs
Manufactured in New Zealand, Ecoglo’s range of Exit Signs are cost-effective, fail-safe and more sustainable than alternative offerings. They are designed to be used in engineered solutions to meet building codes in Australia, New Zealand and any performance based jurisdiction around the world.
Hybrid PL Exit Signs
Ecoglo Hybrid PL Exit Signs are effective in all lighting scenarios.
Requiring no batteries, the hybrid sign is an internally illuminated PL exit sign which incorporates both photoluminescent material and next-generation LEDs. Connecting to the local lighting circuit, the LEDs ensure there is always sufficient light to keep the sign charged.
Passive PL Exit Signs
Ecoglo’s high visibility and durability ensure that the signs can be installed in any environment, indoors or outdoors. As long as there is sufficient natural or artificial light to charge the signs then a system can be engineered to meet building code performance specifications.

PLC Exit Sign Standards
Established in 2015, the Photoluminescent Lighting Council (PLC) is the peak industry organisation for the emergency visibility industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia/Pacific region, and has an associate relationship with the Photoluminescent Safety Association in USA. The aim of the PLC is to further understanding and use of photoluminescent products and solutions.
In early 2018, the PLC board of directors approved Photoluminescent Council Standards – PLCS 101, Parts A, B and C relating to Photoluminescent Exit Signs.
F6 Emergency Visibility Products
Ecoglo’s range of emergency visibility products which includes Step Products, Guidance Strips and Markers, and Handrail Markers are designed to meet NZBC Clause F6 ‘Visibility in Escape Routes’.
They are effective in all light conditions including during failure of the main lighting.
All products are independently tested.
Ecoglo Step Nosings are Living Building Challenge (LBC) compliant and are listed on the prestigious Declare database.
Stadium and Venue Markers
Ecoglo’s highly visible seat numbers enhance the orderly movement of people to and from their seats.
