Product Description
I-Built™ Hyne Beam 17C is suitable for lintels over large window and door openings and for garage beams, or as roof beams where spans over large spaces are dictated by design. Architects and building designers can specify I-Built Hyne Beam 17C with confidence, knowing that Hyne Design software provides guaranteed assurance of the correct choice of size for the required application.
SIZES
- 85mm x 195, 230, 260, 295, 330, 360, 395, 425, 460, 495, 525mm.
- 135mm x 130, 165, 195, 230, 260, 295, 330, 360mm.
- Custom sizes can be designed to suit special applications up to 1200mm in depth.
LENGTHS 0.6m increments to 11.7m.
GRADES: I-Built Hyne Beam 17C is available in two grades in accordance with AS/NZS1328.1-1998.
- STR – Structural Grade or Appearance C.
- SEL – Select Grade or Appearance A.
Scope of use
Building
In conjunction with timber or lightweight steel framing that complies with the NZ Building Code, or for existing buildings, where the designer and/or installer have established that the existing structure is suitable for the intended building work.
To the requirements of NZS 3604 as referenced in and amended by B1/AS1.
Fixing material to be in accordance with section 4, NZS 3604:2011.As part of the primary structure.››
Beams must only be used in fully enclosed internal locations excluding wet areas.
The Beam must not form any part of the external envelope (including walls).
Before or during construction, the Beam must not be exposed to the environment for more than 90 days.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B1 Structure: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, B1.3.3, B1.3.3(b), B1.3.3(g), B1.3.3(h), B1.3.3(j)
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1, B2.3.1(a)
- Clause C6 Structural stability: Performance C6.3, C6.4
- Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1
Evidence

Hyne Timber’s Glue Laminated Timber (GLT) has been
independently certified by Bureau Veritas, a JAS-ANZ
accredited third-party Certification Body, under their ‘S’
Mark Product Certification Scheme.
The ‘S’ Mark is an
Australasian stamp of assurance, confirming to the design
and construction industry that Hyne Timber’s GLT is audited
and certified to the applicable Standard ‘AS/NZS 1328.1:1998,
Glue Laminated Structural Timber’.

Hyne 17C Glulam beams are to be used in enclosed locations or as internal visual structural members so there is no specific maintenance required.
