Product Description
Prolam PLX Portal is a glulam timber portal bracing system, designed and made in New Zealand. Three glulam elements — two legs and a PLX20 steel-reinforced lintel — give high bracing capacity for large openings where wall space is limited. Up to 40% lighter than steel portals, with better insulation values. FSC-certified timber options available. Assembled on site with standard carpentry tools; no specialist skills or equipment required. Legs and lintel can be cut to length on site. Independently tested to BRANZ P21 (2010), ductility µ = 3.0, compatible with NZS3604. Specified with a PS1 Producer Statement.
Sizes
PLXP200: 360 mm legs each side. PLXP120: 240 mm legs. Max lintel span 6.0 m.
Treatment
H1.2 KD — interior only, not for exterior. Treated to NZS 3640. Meets NZBC B2 50-year durability within the building envelope.
Applications
Large internal openings, garage portals, and window portals in single and two-storey residential buildings.
